Prenatal Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care is very important during pregnancy. There are many benefits of Chiropractic care during pregnancy such as maintaining a healthier pregnancy, controlling symptoms of nausea, reducing the time of labor and delivery, relieving back, neck, and joint pain, and prevention of a potential cesarean section.
Our prenatal chiropractors can help by analyzing your spine and adjusting specific areas that are out of alignment to reduce interference to the nervous system and balance the spine, maternal pelvic muscles, and ligaments. This in turn can allow expectant mothers to have a properly aligned spine, which will make her body feel and function A LOT better during pregnancy! It will also reduce tension in the uterus and may allow for optimal fetal positioning in preparation for birth.
There is a special technique designed for expectant mothers, called the Webster Technique. The basic purpose of this technique is to realign the sacrum, a bone at the base of the spine, and to relax the round ligament that connects the uterus to the sacrum. This provides the proper position of the pelvic bones and provide greater space for the baby. This can allow for breached babies to turn vertex (head down). It also ensures that the hips are in proper alignment which facilitates the birthing process. All chiropractic techniques can be adapted for our pregnant patients.
"I was experiencing a lot of pain in my feet following the birth of my son. I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in both feet. After seeing my PCP and being prescribed anti-inflammatory medication, I looked into the benefits of Chiropractic care. I was in so much pain from the plantar fasciitis that is because difficult for me to walk. I was unable to carry my newborn and walk because I was concerned for his safety. As part of my care plan, custom orthotics were recommended. Within days of receiving my orthotics I had a reduction in my pain. Regular Chiropractic visits and my orthotics have allowed me to be able to care for my son again!"
